GARBAGE: ENGLISH IN CHINA JUNK
A short collection of Chinese spam emails, as received and translated through Google Translate. Designed in one day at various different locations and printed on a Risograph RZ370, the book reflects both the throw–away nature of spam emails and also the accidental humour when the original message becomes lost in translation.
A collaboration with Iain Hector, printed at Victory Press.
A5, 2 colour risograph + foiled cover, edition of 50. £8 each – email me
TOPSHOP (EMAIL) STYLEGUIDE
A comprehensive 60 page styleguide for the newletters and messages that make up Topshop's email suite, detailing everything from fonts & colours, to product dimensions and categorisation.
As well as designing the new layouts and assets, I also advised on typography, character limits, build etc.

TURNPIKE BEVEL
Turnpike Bevel is best used in accompaniment to Turnpike Display, at big point sizes. It is provided as a vector font (eps format) in 3 layers to give control over the shades and colours of the outlines, highlights and body of each glyph independently. For those without vector editing software, a basic Open Type font is also provided.
1 weight, 62 glyph vector font + basic OpenType font. Available to purchase from The Type Foundry.
TURNPIKE DISPLAY
A display font that attempts to bridge the gap between classic geometric and neo–grotesque faces–simple shapes with a robust, no–nonsense approach. Optional OpenType swashes help make Turnpike versatile for titles and logos alike.
1 weight, 217 glyphs + OpenType functionality. Available to purchase from The Type Foundry.
TURNPIKE DECO
Custom typeface and colour branding for London indie band Turnpike Glow. I worked on the typeface ('Turnpike Deco') alongside my complete, commercial display face 'Turnpike Display' (above).
Turnpike Deco is reserved for the band and, unlike Turnpike Display (and now 'Turnpike Bevel'), is not available for purchase or use.
Have a listen some songs here.
SWALIF BOOK
A catalogue book for a huge exhibition at Mathaf: Arab Museum of Modern Art in Doha. I was commissioned by Bloomsbury QF Publishing to design the book and work closely with Mathaf. I also worked with Rana Abou Rjeily who took on my design and flipped it to produce the mirrored Arabic side of the book. Cover by Engy Hashem.
ONE TRUE SAXON
A fold–out poster/lookbook for quality British footwear brand OTS. As well as designing the layout and creative typography for the flip side, I took on art direction for the hero shot (as well as directing photos which ended up in that season's catalogue). Photos by Iurdana de Prada.
KICKERS AW11
Art direction and full design for Kickers Autumn/Winter '11 catalogue. I looked at updating the hand–written typography that had been used the past year to something more adult in feel.
I collaborated with Phil Arthur on direction for the photography, photos expertly taken by Iurdana de Prada.
Covers screenprinted.
KAVA KAVA: PHASE 2
Promotional suite of photos, directed and taken at Stour Space arts market, Hackney Wick. The images were then branded up with special attention to fun!
KAVA KAVA: PHASE 1
An identity for barista and coffee enthusiast Natalie Mitusov AKA Kava Kava.
Reflecting the history and diversity of coffee beans and the different nations and cultures which cultivate them, I hand–drew numerous pieces of coffee paraphernalia & pottery from around the world. Teamed with a suitably eclectic and lively font, this formed the basis for the identity.
Business cards silk–screened & cut by hand.
BELVOIR MAGAZINE
A magazine which I was commissioned to design and art direct for Belvoir Lettings.
Watch out for future issues!
CLARE EDMEAD PHOTOGRAPHY
Some stationary and promotional materials for Clare Edmead Photography, an international photography business.
I also created a website for Clare Edmead Photography, which you can link to here.
KICKERS PATTERN
Branding exercise for Kickers UK. Using the brand's colours and an exclusive font by Phil Arthur, I made some simple illustrations and a pattern of slogans which was used to raise brand awareness with tote bags, wrapping paper etc.
KAPITAL K: A CLASSLESS CHARACTER
My answer to an open call, this piece was published in a nice typographic book, 'Kapital K' (featured in Grafik magazine), exhibited at Dutch Design Week '08 and even got me a personal mention on design.nl (I apparently 'broke human communication down to twelve base elements').
A detailed explanation of my response can be found here.
BOZO UNIT
Screen printing was to be the foundation of Bozo Unit, so human inconsistency was embraced in the branding.
I re–styled the font Soho, silk screening its characters roughly, forming the foundation of the identity. During printing, some Lomo photos were taken, of no real use, but they look pretty interesting. Signage and flyers also hand–printed.
